New Years Resolutions

The idea of  ringing in the new year goes back several thousand years, all the way back to the Romans. The month January was taken from the Roman god Janus who is the god of beginnings and endings. He is always shown with two faces, one looking forward and the other looking behind. So on new years eve and January 1st we are looking back at the previous year and looking forward to the new one. And the resolutions that so many people make help us to solidify our hopes for the upcoming year.

The most common new years resolutions haven't changed that much over the past few years. The most common ones are loosing weight, quitting smoking, cutting back on drinking, learn a new skill, get organized, manage debt, and save money.
